Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Here are some common questions and answers about the translation process. Have a question that isn’t answered here? Simply contact me with your query.

How long does a translation take?
This always depends on the length and nature of the text. In general, the more specialised a text is, the longer a translation will take, due to the need to research relevant terminology particularly carefully. The time needed also depends on what capacities I currently have.

The good news is that, as an individual translator, I’m flexible and you can contact me directly, without going through a middleman. By sending me your text, you can get a free and obligation-free quote at any time. If your job is particularly urgent or you have a particular deadline in mind, simply let me know. I’ll prepare a quote for you as quickly as possible using your text and will get back to you with this as soon as possible.

How much does a translation cost?
Again, there is also no simple answer to this question, as everything depends on the text length and type. Please contact me for a free quote.

Do you have a minimum order fee?
No, any job is welcome, no matter how large or small. The price will be calculated specifically for you text and without applying a minimum order fee. How can I pay your invoices? For European customers, I have a German bank account for receiving payments. I also have a New Zealand bank account.

Do you use machine translation services such as Google Translate?
No, I translate your texts myself! In addition to being error-prone, machine translation has a further disadvantage: the text entered is usually saved by the software as useful new input. Discretion and confidentiality are my highest priorities in dealings with my clients.

What qualifications and experience do you have as a translator?
I’ve worked for over 10 years in the translation and language teaching fields. I completed the German State Examination (State of Hesse) and also hold the Diploma in Translation from Britain‘s Chartered Institute of Linguists. I have also completed a German qualification as a Business Legal Assistant, which is beneficial to me when I translate legal texts. For more about my background, check out my profile page.

What do your customers say about you?
Companies such as LucaNet, Lufthansa Technik and Amplexor Switzerland are just a few examples of my satisfied customers. Read about their experiences with my translations in the testimonials section.
